UFC on Fuel TV Trailer About Michael McDonald Includes Absolute MMA Professor Rob Handley

Absolute MMA head coach and owner Rob Handley appears in Fuel TV’s UFC Ultimate Insider. Absolute MMA is a gym in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rob and his team have been involved with the local Utah MMA scene for quite a while. Rob booked an out of state fight for one of his up and coming fighters, Braeden Kilpack, to improve his experience. Rob Braeden and a training partner, Cody Bunderson, were in California a few weeks ago at the Oakdale MMA facility. At the same time, Michael McDonald was preparing for his match against Renan Barao. Braden Kilpack and Cody Bunderson, both students of Rob and fighters out of Absolute MMA, were on hand as Fuel TV captured footage for their spotlight of Michael. Rob, a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, was teaching class when the producer asked if he would be willing to give an interview. Rob agreed and some of the interview can be seen in the trailer. Cameo appearances by Braeden and Cody.

Good luck to Michael McDonald in his upcoming bout with Renan Barao for the UFC bantamweight title.

Absolute MMA Fighter, Koffi Adzitso, to Tryout for The Ultimate Fighter!

Absolute MMA teammate, Koffi Adztso, is trying out for The Ultimate Fighter show this Sunday! Koffi has been training consistently and intensely for quite some time. It looks like this may be his opportunity to show the world his skills and take his game to the next level. Koffi, nicknamed “The Lion King”, has an impressive record of 17-8-0. Koffi is an exciting fighter, well respected for his lightning fast hands and knockout power. Nine of his 17 wins have come by knockout or TKO.

Koffi has been a member of Absolute MMA for a few years now, adding his experience and work ethic to the MMA team training and Jiu Jitsu classes. He always is respectful of his partners and works at a level that both can benefit from. Koffi has one of the best work ethics around. Not one to take days off or relax during training, he always puts forth his best effort and is an excellent example of “work first, talk later.”

All of us at Absolute MMA wish Koffi success at The Ultimate Fighter tryouts. We would wish him luck but we know his skill set makes that unnecessary. We look forward to seeing Koffi get his shot at the big show. Knock ’em out, Koffi! Do what you do best.

J Burk’s thoughts on Hazelett

J Burks thoughts on Hazelett

In off-TV action, the welterweight theme continues in a highly-anticipated bout between Josh Burkman and Dustin Hazelett, both of whom are looking to get back in the win column after competitive defeats to Mike Swick and Josh Koscheck, respectively.

“Dustin Hazelett is a tough kid, and from what I hear has great game on the ground,” said Burkman, 20-5 overall, 6-3 in the UFC. “To tell you the truth
I haven’t watched film on him and I probably won’t. I don’t think he’ll be able to fight me like he’s fought other people. My coach Rob Handley has watched his fights and I’m confident in the game plan he will come up with. As far as me, I’m just gonna watch film on (Mike) Tyson. I’m knockin this dude out.”

For those of you that don’t know Josh has been in Las Vegas training with USBA Champion BJ Flores, Striking Unlimited and Extreme Couture. He will be returning to Salt Lake City to finish up his camp at the beginning of June for his fight with Hazelett, June 21st on Spike TV.
