Absolute MMA Takes Home Double Gold at United States Fight League


Absolute MMA teammate, Chris Kennedy, does it again! Chris traveled to Camp Pendleton, California and competed in the United States Fight League: 2013 US Military Mixed Martial Arts Championships. A Specialist in the Army, Chris competed in an all-skills-levels division at 170 lbs. The tournament was divided into two events, No-Gi grappling and Pankration fighting.



Chris is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has been practicing Muay Thai for less than a year at Absolute MMA. Chris is a fierce competitor which showed in his impressive victories at the tournament.

Here’s the breakdown:
No-Gi Grappling
11 competitors
First match – Win by triangle in 1:30.
Second match – Win by triangle in 4:00.
Third match – Win by ankle lock in 2:00.

Pankration Fight
6 competitors
First match – Win by armlock in 1:07.
Second match – Win by go-go plata in 2:00.

Chris took home gold medals in both divisions. He was the only competitor to take home double gold in this event which had over 150 competitors. Congratulations, Chris! We are proud to have you represent Absolute MMA.
